ABOUT

Florine Imo is an Austrian figurative painter and sculptor whose work explores femininity, mythology, spirituality, and systems of social judgment. Working across painting, ceramics, sculpture, and installation, she creates emotionally charged visual worlds inhabited by recurring female figures, symbolic characters, and archetypes drawn from religion, pop culture, internet aesthetics, and mythological narratives.

Her practice is centered around the contradictions projected onto femininity, beauty and danger, softness and violence, empowerment and objectification, examining how women are perceived, consumed, worshipped, and feared within both historical and contemporary culture. Through hyper-feminine aesthetics, dramatic atmospheres, and symbolic storytelling, her works investigate the relationship between identity, power, and performance.

Imo often develops her practice through long-running series in which motifs and characters reappear and evolve across different mediums. Her works merge contemporary references with symbolic imagery, creating layered narratives that move between the personal and the collective, the sacred and the artificial, the emotional and the theatrical.

Born in Vienna, Austria, Florine Imo graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2023. Since then, she has presented works internationally in solo and group exhibitions in cities including Los Angeles, London, Stockholm, Tokyo, Vienna, and Madrid.
